Can we go back to the cute baby memes

I am sure we all have a friend or friends who constantly post their every thought, move on social media. But now with a very heated Presidential election it seems almost everyone is taking to social media to pound their political belief into others.

What happened to the days when it was all about the cat, dog or cute baby memes or what they were eating. On a bad day you could find something amusing to make you laugh and move on.  However, today there is no escaping the political exchange.

Politics is not my forte, it has never been, so maybe that is why I don’t understand the trend that everyone wants to post their opinion on the two Presidential candidates and if someone were to have an opposing opinion, the exchange turns out to be ugly and sometimes even resorts to name calling. I am shocked  to see many, who I thought were sensible and responsible adults behaving in such a childish manner.

What happened to “agreeing to disagree?”  It seems the latest is just disagree no matter what. Social media seem to bring out the hidden personalities of everyone.

I for one have made the choice not to vote and whenever friends try to convince me and I tend to disagree or explain why I chose not to vote, there are times I have been called stupid and ignorant. Maybe I am stupid or ignorant or even both, but I believe it is my choice to make the decision. I am not saying that my way is the right way, but that is the decision I have made.

While there is no denying every election has the public all riled up,  this particular election with two very unpopular candidates seems to bring out the worst in everyone. Of course everyone agrees that this is first time that there are two candidates who are unpopular, however, yet they believe their chosen person is better than the other. At the end can’t we agree that neither are who public would like to see, but that it is so. Lets go vote for who you want and let the vote speak for itself. Name calling and bullish behaviour is not going to convince anyone to change their mind. Everyone believes and supports their candidate for a reason, lets just disagree but respect their decision.

I am glad that the election will soon be over and we can go back to the cute memes, I miss those days.

About my random musings

I am originally from South East Asia and I moved to the US about 15 years ago to follow my heart. My heart has since been broken a few times, but I continue to be on journey of trying to mend it. I could talk about running, baking or writing in a small crowd, but put me in a room full of strangers and I will be the one standing in a corner people watching. When I am not writing or running, I would be in my kitchen, flour strewn all over the kitchen counters, music playing in the background and me just rolling and folding dough, excited about what my creation will turn out to be. Besides that I love passionately, when I love, I give it my all, not always a good thing, but that is who I am. I jump both feet in and sometimes I come out with regrets but having learnt a lesson. I believe everything happens for a reason and this is my place to share bits and pieces of my life, my adventures and sometimes misadventures. Hope you enjoy reading my stories as much I enjoy sharing them with you.
